The problem often starts with leaking guttering. The rot then can appear on your fascia boards showing as flaking paintwork. If it’s not stopped, it will spread rapidly to your roof joists. This weakens your roof structure and will cost a fortune to put right.
Leaks out of gutters can also cause problems with damp where water runs down the wall rather than the drainpipe.

We use a concealed ventilation system for all our soffits which prevents the build up of moisture in the roof space without the need for unattractive, vented soffits.
